Sea Rage - Waves And Crossbones

Sea Rage - Waves And Crossbones is a combination of a stormy soundscape (Sea Rage) and an orchestral soundtrack (Waves And Crossbones), and was originally written for the theatrical show ''Don Blackbeard'', as a part of my university thesis, back in 2015.

The theme of Don Blackbeard is about a pirate duo sailing in the open sea, and during that specific moment where this soundtrack is being heard, they are fighting with the waves, struggling to survive against a sudden, heavy storm.
What is special about these few minutes is that there is no actual visual scene on stage, so the only thing creating images is that musical soundscape! In other words, this composition is responsible to deliver the action only through sound, while the cast is preparing for the next scene.

The soundtrack is not an actual recording of physical instruments. It was created via virtual instruments in a digital program. The sound design was also composed in the same program, using pre-recorded storm and sea sounds. I hope you enjoy it!

Cold Emotion 

Cold Emotion was written back in May of 2014, during a pretty fragile period of my creative life. It was composed for 4 instruments: piano, vibraphone, flute and cello. Its dark, cinematic atmosphere captures all those mixed feelings and creative inspirations I was exposed to, during that time.

Experiencing

Κουράζει ο πολύς ο κόσμος, είπε. Δε σ' αφήνει να απολαύσεις με την ησυχία σου τα αξιοθέατα, συμπλήρωσε... Ναι, καταλαβαίνω· λογικό, αποκρίθηκα..

Εντάξει, ίσως για μένα να είναι διαφορετικό το πώς απολαμβάνω την επίσκεψη σε μια ξένη πόλη. Θα με γεμίσει απλά το να περπατήσω στους δρόμους, χωρίς να πηγαίνω κάπου να δω κάτι συγκεκριμένο, οριοθετώντας με τη διάθεση της στιγμής την ταχύτητα του βήματός μου. Να κοιτάζω τις βιτρίνες, τα σπίτια, τα μπαλκόνια, το ντύσιμο και τα κουρέματα του κόσμου· τις στιλιστικές λεπτομέρειες που καθορίζουν τις διαφορές σε σχέση με τις δικές μας πόλεις. Τις διαφορές που σε κάνουν, ακόμη και με κλειστά τα μάτια, να αισθάνεσαι τον ξένο αέρα ανάμεσα στα σοκάκια. Θα με γεμίσει να καθίσουμε τυχαία κάπου για καφέ με τα παιδιά και να ψαχουλέψουμε τον κατάλογό τους. Να συγκρίνουμε και να βρούμε τι τους λείπει από τους καταλόγους που έχει συνηθίσει το μάτι μας και ταυτόχρονα να παραγγείλουμε το πιο ιδιαίτερο, τοπικό ρόφημα που έχουν να μας προσφέρουν!

Και σε όλα αυτά, και άλλα τόσα μικρά πράγματα που προδίδουν τον χαρακτήρα μιας πόλης, ο πολύς κόσμος πάντα έρχεται να συμπληρώσει όμορφα, διατηρώντας τον παλμό της· και είναι αυτό που εμπνέει ζωή σε όλες αυτές τις πρωτόγνωρες εμπειρίες.
